Relocating to Los Altos, CA

Los Altos is a city that is located in the southern part of the San Francisco Peninsula. This city is part of California’s Santa Clara County and was incorporated in 1952 to keep from being annexed into a neighboring town. While most of the city’s growth occurred after that time, according to the 2010 census, it has a population of approximately 29,000, a number that has remained steady since the 1980s.

The city of Los Altos was originally an agricultural town, where many chose to build their summer houses. However, as time went on, many built their permanent homes here, and now Los Altos is known as a bedroom community, which is the name of a community where most residents commute out of town for work. Many in the city have positions in management or at local technology firms, a factor that contributes to the wealth of Los Altos.

With natural beauty, a tight-knit community, an emphasis on education, an abundance of community facilities and resources and a convenient location near many Bay Area attractions, including San Francisco, Los Altos is a popular place to move to in the area. With schools that rank among the top in the state and a community focus on families, this city is a great place to move, whether you already have a family or are planning on building one eventually. The public education in Los Altos is exceptional. The schools located in the area have some of the highest Academic Performance Index scores in California. There are also great private education institutions, and the schools provide many in Los Altos with work. In fact, the education system in which Los Altos School District is a part of is the largest single employer in the city.
