Los Altos residents enjoy many of the businesses of an upscale community, with the small-town charm of unique cafes and great shopping in beautiful boutiques. In addition, the community is notable for its excellent schools and resources for its children, with the city’s public schools receiving top rankings on the Academic Performance Index.

Los Altos’ annual events are a huge draw for both residents and visitors. Families living in Los Altos, California, and other cities in Silicon Valley, join together to enjoy the Friday Night Movies under the stars in downtown Los Altos. The whole family will enjoy the bouncy houses, balloon artists and having the kids’ faces painted before the start of the show. Other annual events include the Los Altos Fall Festival, the Festival of Lights Parade, Fine Arts in the Park and the Art and Wine Festival.

The annual Los Altos Arts and Wine Festival is held on Saturday and Sunday, usually in mid-July, in downtown Los Altos. Every summer, the town is transformed by the two-day event, which features artists, craftspeople, wineries and a wide variety of foods from across the world. With the new larger Family FunZone at the festival, it is a perfect event for the whole family to be entertained with rides, concerts and live music.

Los Altos shopping is another benefit of living in the city. With children’s toys at Adventure Toys, Apricot Lane and Bubble Kids and ice cream at the Cranberry Scoop, children find much to do in the city of Los Altos. You can also find art and culture at the Nature Gallery, Serafino Fine Art and Viewpoints Gallery. For those looking for a bite to eat, Kula Sweet or the Bumble Café are suitable options, while On the Mark is a running store that will provide you with what you need to run off those calories. With many different shopping districts in town, residents never have to venture far for something they need.

With so much to do in this city, Los Altos is a wonderful place to live, for both families and single adults. This is because Los Altos enjoys certain assets that other local cities do not. One such characteristic is the zoning of the city, which allows businesses only in downtown and other shopping and office districts. Los Altos also works to provide a number of parks that help the community remain family-focused with a small-town feel. These parks include the Marymeade Park, the Redwood Grove Nature Preserve and the Palo Alto Foothills Park. The city takes its commitment to nature one step forward with its recycling program, becoming a leader in recycle collection programs.
